LOW SELF-ESTEEM

Self-esteem reflects a person’s overall evaluation or appraisal of his or her own worth.

Low self-esteem encompasses negative beliefs such as “I am incompetent”, or “I am a failure”, or “I am not worthy”.

Self-esteem involves emotions such as triumph and despair, pride and shame.

Low self-esteem can focus on a particular attribute such as, “I am a bad father”, or it can focus on a global issue such as, “I am a bad person”.

To have high self-esteem is to feel confidently capable for life, to feel worthy, to feel right as a person.

A person with low self-esteem can feel unready for life, feel unworthy for good things, or feel wrong as a person.

People with low self-esteem are self-critical, and are hypersensitive to criticism from others.

People with low self-esteem may struggle to make decisions, and go out of their way to please others.

People with low self-esteem may give themselves constant negative feedback on everything they do.

Low self-esteem may lead to being pessimistic about everything: life, the future, and above all, oneself.

Hypnotherapy teaches the person with low self-esteem that these feelings and thoughts can be changed.
